Adopt-a-Student in Time for Back to School! Last Day to Give Is Aug. 18

Kiawah Cares is looking forward to a new year of learning for Sea Island students with the Adopt-a-Student campaign. The 2017-2018 school year starts next week and only half of the students in this year’s campaign have been sponsored.

This program, which is a partnership with the Kiawah Women’s Foundation (KWF), aims to clothe and feed students at Angel Oak and E.L. Frierson Elementary schools. Poor fitting or improper clothing often creates a distracting environment for young learners, making it hard to keep their focus on schoolwork.

You can help make learning the primary focus by participating in the Adopt-a-Student program. Your $200 donation will ensure a student has school uniforms and supplies, while supporting the Kiawah Women’s Foundation’s partner program, backpack buddies. The $200 gift to KCF will be directed equally to uniform purchases and to backpack buddies, which helps meet the nutritional needs for children who may otherwise lack access to adequate nutrition.

Kiawah Cares anticipates at least 60 students in need for the 2017-2018 program. Currently, only half that number have been sponsored. Contribute to student success through the Adopt-a-Student program via our online donation system or send your $200 check payable to the Kiawah Cares Foundation to 23 Beachwalker Drive, Kiawah Island, SC 29455.
