CATR Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program

Volunteer with CATR

Date: Ongoing – Once Per Week for One Hour (This is flexible.)
Location: Brickhouse Equestrian Center (2669 Hamilton Rd, Johns Island)

Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding (CATR) has a need for volunteers (ages 14+) to walk or lead horses to assist children and adults with disabilities in their therapeutic horseback riding program. Program volunteers are asked to make a one hour a week commitment, at the same day and time, for a 12-week session.

Volunteers lead or walk beside the horse for 45 minutes at a time, with occasional slow jogging. Horse leaders must have prior horse experience, however, no experience is required for sidewalking. Potential volunteers will attend a one-time Volunteer Orientation & Training session.

Volunteers are also needed for outreach, special events, media/photography and office assistance from time to time throughout the year.
